the rain gathers hills in its head. is victim
to no hesitation. even in pause it upholds
silence. the days are yanked past and fill
up with superstition. the yell and the wind. the
tap of imagined fingers. the fall and anger
the rendered days.

yet some on stilts of fire wobble home free

several broken bones for wit
