A not so elaborate plan
Of minor chords
And marijuana joints,
Backyard afternoon
Of lawn chair versing,
Sun tea and with binoculars
Now at night
Counting the craters
On the moon.
I know this
Too well, the tally
Smarts, still beautifully
Bites.
The “not so elaborate plan” and marijuana joints and the rest of this poem is an absolute summer hammock. I don’t like summer, don’t like it at all. Too many people wearing sandals and too hot and my girlfriend likes to go swimming in the St. Lawrence river and there are too many bugs and birds, but this poem reminds me of the greatness of summer. Great job!

Thanks Steve. I didn’t know you were amiss about summer. I look forward to just sitting outside. I’m glad you liked this one, though not a fan of the subject.

About summer, it’s mostly the heat and so many people outside that bothers me and plus there’s a very aggressive species of birds here that on occasion attack humans. But like you, I enjoy sitting outside and reading. Today was ideal weather in Montreal – 60-65. That’s perfect.

This feels relaxing. Viewing the world from your vantage point, perhaps watching birds with your binoculars then shifting to the moon at night. While hoping the mosquitoes don’t attack you.
