June is airy and incomplete and true and I
Will be getting up before dawn to walk
Along the railroad lines and find any hidden
Imaginary doors or graffiti haiku or a summiting cloud formation
Like a labyrinth of words in the sky.

Sounds like my idea of a good time, especially the imaginary doors. Those are the best.

I was talking to my dad yesterday for father’s day and he was reminding me how tough it is to break out of a funk when you haven’t been social for a long while which is my situation and I thought about that Dylan lyric – “But I mean no harm nor put fault On anyone that lives in a vault” and I’m reminded of this poem and “imaginary doors” and all the hope in those lines and the effort in “getting up before dawn to walk,” an example of (excuse all the references) of that Grateful Dead lyric from Fire On The Mountain – “long distance runner, what you standing there for. Get up Get out, get out the door.”

Lately, I’ve been trying to keep it simple, walks, sunlight and wind on my skin. Reading books. But I admit, being social is tougher as you get older. I really need to put the effort in. But I think you’re dad is right. It’s tough to get out of that valley. Which is strange, cause talking to friends and meeting new people is always a lot of fun.

It’s like that Grandma Moses who didn’t start painting until she was in her late 70’s….my point being that it can all change in a sudden second.

The last two lines. Ah, goodness. They’re fantastic. The graffiti haiku reminds me of Basquiat’s graffiti poetry that he signed as SAMO. Well worth an image search for those. And the last line of your poem is magical. I’ll be thinking of it as I look up at the clouds.

Thanks for recommending the Basquiat graffiti poetry. I had no idea he did that. I was just aware of his art. I’ve already seen some great poems of his. That is really inspiring. Glad you like this one, Dave. Thanks!
