In the grain between the stars,
Probability stripped down to the studs,
Yet probable enough.
In the anteroom before a dream,
Probability slips into the uncanny,
Yet palpable enough.
Over the eons probability evolved into choice.
In the busy air the summer bee says,
Yet all the more real.
Love it!

there have been fewer and fewer bees this summer. i heard something about it being a result of human beings messing things up though i was at the Oka beach today and there were a bunch of bees so that’s a good sign i would think.
i like how this poem reads….the three Yets and the last one with the bee (fresh in my memory) is always a challenge when trying to enjoy a picnic.

Those bees do love a picnic. The bees worry me too. We sure do seem to dislike nature. Which isn’t good.

I’m guilty of spending most of my time indoors and fear pretty much all of nature’s creatures and many humans freak me out too. Dogs are the best in my opinion but then we have to deal with aggressive dogs too.

Thanks, Rajani. I’m glad that line stuck a note.

Do we think anything is possible? The opening stanza is stunning. The last stanza leaves me thinking, like Rajani says. Are we being real?

Thanks, Worms. Good question. Have we evolved enough complexity to make choices. Or, like some would say, is freewill something of an illusion. And this is all determined?

Choice is, indeed, a double-edged sword. And not all our choices are wise…or necessary.
Great poem

Thank you! Yes, choice can go either way. And it’s not always easy to know which. I’m glad you liked this one.
