  1. I kind of knew what a nova was, but looked it up just to be sure and discovered that more than a star, it’s also one that experiences a spike in brightness and then returns to its original, like an expanding and contracting universe, maybe like “restless…….and cosmic”…..”arthropod……..and daisy” or maybe I’ve swung and missed….In any case, as always, I love the motion of this poem and how it takes us from outer space nova to the ground of spiders and daisies.

    1. I’m glad you liked it. I just finished the documentary you sent me, One Million Years in Three Second, so I’m more inspired to not worry too much about meaning. That doc was great. I really enjoyed those out-there characters. I’m hoping to finish up the month with some short poems. But I do think all the images do influence each other, if that makes sense.

      1. I’m forever haunted (in a good way) by Bob Watt. He’s one of the folk featured in that movie One Million Years in Three Seconds. I hung out with him a number of times in Milwaukee, the first encounter was in a Kerouac and Beat Generation Lit course at uw-milwaukee. He was invited to read his poetry and then i seen him along Downer Avenue on Milwaukee’s east side where he gave me a book of his poetry. he loved the packers and female nudity and painting. once i was at his apartment and there were two naked girls and he encouraged me to get naked and join the fun, but i was too uptight, but one of the naked girls sat on my lap and that was great and one of bob’s poems was a rewrite of the 10 commandments with two of commandments being to love more than one’s significant other. He told me that my future was way up north and years later i made it to montreal. he was like some sort of compassionate visionary and who knows, maybe i’ll go further north, to nunavut. but i miss milwaukee. i bought a ticket to go back sept 14-21. Brewers are there for five games!!!! and hopefully, i’ll take the bar shuttle bus to the game and meet some strangers. Go Brewers! Go Sabres!

      2. Wow. That’s a great story and so cool you met him. Seems like it would be a wild ride to be hanging out with him. I saw in the video his love for nudity. But what a great influence he must have been. Enjoy Milwaukee and here’s to them winning all the games when you are there. And I hope you get to go to the games too!

      3. Bob Watt was so not complicated, a wonderful conversationalist. is that a word? i grew up in the suburbs and maybe it was scary for me to meet Bob because I had never met anyone like Bob Watt, and then when i moved to milwaukee’s east side which was and I assume still is a meeting place of south and north and west side of milwaukee, there was Bob Watt, a beautiful influence, a reminder that there was nothing to be afraid of, that friendship was the ultimate. I don’t always feel lucky, but knowing Bob helps me feel lucky.
