With these words
Loose of meaning,
Charmed incoherence
Fast to the rising moon,
Ensconced with the grainy
Intelligence of shells,
The nitty gritty of being and
Believing.

Those beauties, streetlights. Your words are always endearing, Bob. Happy holidays to you!

The nitty gritty of being and / believing… that feels exactly like those streetlights in the rain.

I didn’t think of that, but now that you’ve made that connection, I agree. Thanks!

I thought of a sampler platter serving a variety of food stuffs. Maybe that was inspired by the sandwich mention in the next-to-last stanza 🙂 And I thought that the last stanza could be a great way to describe your poetry. The collection of images in your poems can bewilder me — in an endearing and delightful way. Merry Christmas, Bob 🌝

Thanks Dave. And Merry Christmas! I think the sampler platter is an apt metaphor. ☺️

The Police song Doo doo doo Dah dah dah played in my mind after reading that first line “….Words loose of meaning.” It seems to be sometimes better to not talk too much as if there were a number of words we are awarded each day and if we go beyond the number, they lose their impact and unfortunately, if it’s that women we idolize who says too many words, she is toppled like one of those Assad statues in Syria. As always, I think I’m off topic, but we’re left with “endearing bewilderment” and that’s a great state to be in. Have a great day Bob and HO HO HO, said the pimp and a Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas Steve! I agree, too many words can topple us. And endearing bewilderment is a great state to be. Hope you have a great holidays. Thanks!!

I think i mighta made a mistake, a christmas day mistake. I just popped an edible and I’m at my girlfriend’s. She doesn’t let me drink so crossing my fingers that i don’t get hit with paranoia. I should be ok because I’m in good spirits, but having booze as a mellower of a paranoid feeling works wonders. Anyway, wish me luck. Merry Christmas Bob.

Thanks Bob. Yes, it went great. Walked around the streets and then had an Anthony Bourdain marathon. Watched his adventures in Vietnam, Myanmar, and the Philippines. Such a bummer that he committed suicide. But back to the edible….so different from smoking weed, resin, or hash. I became very talkative and had some good laughs. Moral of the story? I’m returning to the weed store to buy more edibles!

I liked Anthony Bourdain too. Edibles are different, and I really enjoy having them when I go out walking. But the right dose is key. Nothing overwhelming. Glad you had a good experience.

I was checking the THC levels on all the edible packets and they all seemed to have the same percentage. I was nervous heading into the buzz for just that – it being overwhelming……maybe I should just stick with the same brand? But I wouldn’t mind experimenting with a higher THC level, to take that risk, in search of an even greater thrill, but I’ll only do it with alcohol on hand to take off the edge, just in case.
