The poet draws maps for imaginary tourists.
With these words
Underlines the galaxy.
The cosmos
Is the footing
We stand on.
The leg-work of the eons.
The universe
Is a wave.
The wind measures the shore.
Unknowing for a mustache. The universe strolls.

Maps, imaginary tourists, and the “universe is a wave” – this is a brilliant stroll with the universe Bob. Each line is a gem.

Thanks!! Who knows, maybe the universe is out for a stroll?

that mustache at the end came out of nowhere!!…..and then the stroll…it was like all the eons of leg work, as you say, all of it acknowledged through strolls and joy and appreciation. this one really leaves me on the james brown “good foot.” thanks.

Thanks Steve! I’m going to listen to some James Brown tonight. I do think the universe is out for a stroll. Maybe this is all part of just a morning walk for the cosmos. And we are just along for the ride.

it sure is interesting how our own personal playlists change as our identity morphs endlessly…ideally.
i think i piss people off because i change my mind all the time. it’s the same with music. i can go on binges with a band, even a song sometimes for like i don’t know weeks? months? and then i might never listen to them again in my life. i don’t get it. maybe there’s something wrong with me? or maybe that happens to everyone?
i had never thought of the universe out for a stroll or a morning walk for the cosmos, but i will say this…walking slow actually does get me there faster than if i had walked fast which is probably mental but that’s the idea. the problem i find is that when i walk slow like that, i really become part of the neighborhood as a character walking around as someone who feels comfortable and is not in a hurry to get back home to the tv and well, this opens all kinds of possibilities and some of them are scary.

I get hooked on a song/album. And drive my wife crazy with how much I listen to it over and over. Then suddenly it’s on to the next song/album. I think I’m naturally a fast walker. But going to try to slow down and really notice everything around me. It will be good practice in seeing.

i asked this baseball pitcher who i met. he made it to AA minor leagues but he kept trying and kept at it for 12 years. his song when he came out to pitch was the Carpenters WE’VE ONLY JUST BEGUN. i always liked the question mark in his musical taste or maybe it was meant as a reminder that the baseball season is 162 games long. Horribly lovely song.

i feel less cheesy that you say you like the song…i took it as him being sarcastic or cynical about love which i kind of am too, but i’m pretty sure i’d be dead if it weren’t for my girlfriend, not because i would have behaved like evil knieval, but because drugs and alcohol woulda killed me so i’m grateful for her.
